Junior Development Academy Soccer
Union KC’s Recreational Program will now be called the Union KC Junior Development Academy. The name change highlights that, while it is for entry level players, the training environment is structured and focused on developing players to help reach the next level through developmentally appropriate skills and activities. The goal of the program is to get players for their next milestone which is the Pre-Comp program at U7, but more importantly, to develop a love for the game.
Union KC Soccer Club’s Pre-K and Kindergarten Junior Development Academy aims to provide a fun and safe environment where players can develop their soccer skills, learn the game, and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport. To encourage lifelong love of the game the focus is on player development and enjoyment, striving that each child has a positive and enriching experience. The Union KC Junior Development Acadmey provides players with a pathway to the competitive program through the values and training techniques.
Program Structure
Pre-K and Kindergarten age groups will have the option of playing on Saturday mornings or Tuesday evening at Paragon Star. They also have the option of playing at Garmin Olathe on Thursday. Their sessions will be hour long split between fun activities and then a scrimmage (1v1, 2v2 or 3v3).
Junior Development Academy Curriculum
Season-long, age and stage appropriate, games based curriculum provided to coaches on a weekly basis. The curriculum will focus on the development needs of a player in a fun and educational way.
Uniforms
Uniforms will be provided. In your players registration, a question will be asked to gather sizing information. Uniforms will then be distributed to the coaches prior to the first game. Families will be responsible for purchasing shorts, socks, shin guards, and cleats. Shorts and socks can be purchased from the Union KC Fan Shop.
Coaching
All sessions will be led by a Union KC staff member.
Coach Education Opportunities
The coaches will receive weekly emails from the Program Director with explanations of the activities and main focus. They will also have the opportunity to attend coach education sessions to help them feel more comfortable with their team.
